Mauritius and more....

Arusha in his new home in the Channel Islands
2012 has started off much as 2011 ended, in busy fashion. As well as our usual shipments of racehorses and broodmares to and from the US and the Middle East, we were delighted to be able to ship the 26 year old Arusha for Mrs Monica Dunlop all the way from Mauritius to the Channel Islands. This was a complicated shipment both due to Arusha’s age and also the length of the journey. Arusha had to complete 40 days pre-export quarantine in Mauritius before being flown via charter flight into Ostend. He then travelled back in a whole lorryto himself before spending a week with us in Lambourn where we were able to turn him out and look after him before his ownward journey to Jersey in the Channel Islands. It was a move that took a great deal of care and planning and we are delighted to report that Arusha is thriving in his new home.
It is also lovely to receive a thank you now and again and we received this email from Anja Degan whose eventer Baskin Bay we relocated to Texas.
I just wanted to thank you again for shipping Baskin Bay over to the USA. He arrived here in a perfect condition and seems to be perfectly happy in his new home now. I was really impressed by your professionalism and how easy and straightforward the whole process was. You and your team did a great job! Thank you all so much!
On a more high profile note, LG were also delighted to receive the instructions to handle and ship out the William Haggas trained Green Destiny from Equitrans LLC., in the UAE. Winner of big races at York in 2011 and the Arc Trial at Newbury, Green Destiny finished a close up 6th in the Champion Stakes at Royal Ascot. His ultimate target is the 2012 Dubai World Cup.
The team at LG have also been travelling ! - Kim Rolfe is currently taking part in the Clipper Round the World Challenge - a deeply insane and brave thing to be doing and we all wish her the very best of luck!

A hectic October...

Elusive Kate winning the GR.1 Prix Marcel Boussac before being shipped out to the Breeders Cup
October has always been a traditionally busy month in the Industry and this year has been no exception. The yearling sales in Newmarket were explosive and seemed to buck the general economic trends Worldwide. Lucy Greayer and her team wind tested, looked after and moved out 104 yearlings. Our thanks to Michelle and Amy at Newmarket who were non stop all week. The yearlings that were bought for both the East and West Coast of the US both at Goffs and Tattersalls are now all safely ensconsed in their new homes Stateside. The Horses In Training Sales brought with it it’s usual cosmopolitan mix of buyers and we were pleased to receive orders for the US, Dubai and Saudi from many of our long standing clients.
On the runners front, LG have continued to make arrangemets for Intra-European travel and of particular note were Red Gulch giving Ed Walker his first overseas win and Izzi Top for John Gosden. The jumping boys hace also been out in force and LG has helped arrange expeditions for travel newcomers Alex Hales and Charlie Longsdon. Our thanks to Charlie for sporting an LG baseball cap over 2 full pages of the Racing Post this week!
The yearings returned from Kentucky on the 29th October, 15 shipped by LG following their 30 days pre-export quarantine and one the return flight on the 29th LG were delighted to ship Caspar Netscher for Alan McCabe and also Elusive Kate (pictured above) for John Gosden - The very best of luck to them all this weekend.
On the non racing front, we have again been busy….Dales ponies currently in quarantine for Canada and six show jumpers in quarantine for South Africa, all due to fly this coming weekend. The Middle East has been busy with families relocating both into and out of the Emirates and we have also shipped show Arabians to both Saudi and Qatar.
Excitingly, the new LG tack bags (very smart!) are due to arrive this month and one of these will accompany every horse on each flight in the future to ensure that horses, rugs , boots and paraphenalia are not separated during the journey. We are always determined to improve our sevice here at LG and are always welcome to suggestions on how we can “tweak” things to make that extra difference.
On a final note, the professional grooms have all been working their socks off this month and they have been nothing short of amazing…When we say that your horses (whatever size, breed or age they are) couldn’t be in better hands, we mean it !

July round up........
July was a busy month here at LG. We enjoyed a great day out at Barbury Horse Trials where we pleased to sponsor the water fence for the first time - the sun shone and the hospitality was excellent. LG shipped runners also continued to perform well with Al Shahania Stud’s Aziz and Asraa Min Albarq lifting two of the Group 1 races on Dubai Duty Free Day at Newbury and finishing second with Areej in the third group 1.
LG have arranged “road runners” to the Curragh, Berlin, Leopardstown, Longchamp and Deauville. Congratulations to the John Gosden team with Elusive Kate, a winner in the fillies listed race at Deauville….LG also brought in Elusive Kate from Keeneland last September.
At the start of July, we also flew Brown Panther to and from the German Derby in Hamburg from Liverpool on behalf of Michael Owen and Tom Dascombe. Brown Panther flew on a specially chartered B737 - freighter and the journey went very smoothly knocking four full days off the travel time by road. Sadly the ground went against Brown Panther as the heavens opened turning the track into a mudbath!
The LG shipped Maristar went in again for the Butler Team in the US - Her second win across the pond.
As previously reported, LG shipped Orlando over to the para dressage at Hartpury or American based Irishman James Dwyer. You can follow the link to his freestyle to music test here, which is nothing short of inspirational. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aexdps7nutu&feature=email
In addition to all of the above, we have shipped regularly to New York and Los Angeles as well as running quarantines and shipping to South Africa and Saudi Arabia.
August 1st marks LG’s first Birthday and we would like to thank our clients, friends, agents worldwide and flying grooms for all their support…Roll on the rest of the year!
